WHY GO SOLAR
The Benefits of Going Solar
- Avoid High Rates: Electric Rates Are Increasing across the board and Vectren users in Southern Indiana pay the state’s highest rates.
- Save Thousands of Dollars: Take advantage of an incredible investment opportunity. Over the next 30 years you can pay over $150,000 in electric bills or invest a fraction of that in solar. Solar in Southern Indiana returns 10-15% APR.
- Increase Your Home Value: Every dollar saved on your utility bill can increase your homes value up to ten dollars. Additionally a house with little to no electric bill should sell faster then a comparable home with the added cost of a large electrical bill.
- Protect the Environment: Reduce the amount of power made locally by dirty coal power plants.
This Investment Will Save You Money
Ohio Valley Solar’s prices are more competitive then the other “solar installers” because we don’t just install solar panels, we are electrical contractors. We can be cheaper because we do not rely only on solar panel installations to pay our bills and therefore we can install at a better cost point than our competitors. Solar has a 30% federal rebate and has a typical return on investment of about 7 and a half years. Solar can offset the entire electrical bill of a customer, or we can install a scalable system which can be expanded as your budget allows.
Earn Money Saving Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs)
Solar renewable energy credits (SRECs) are tradable credits that represent all the clean energy benefits of electricity
generated from a solar energy system. Each time a solar energy system generates 1,000 kWh (1MWh) of electricity, an SREC is issued which can then be sold or traded separately from the power.
RECs are valuable because some states have passed legislation requiring energy suppliers to provide a certain percentage of their electricity from renewable energy sources. This type of legislation is called a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). Under certain types of renewable portfolio standard (RPS) legislation, energy suppliers must either produce a certain amount of solar electricity or purchase SRECs in order to avoid a fine. – See more at: http://www.solsystems.com/our-resources/srec-prices-and-knowledge/srec-faq#sthash.eW6E66EX.dpuf In Indiana we are Eligible to sell SREC’s to Ohio. You have to register to an Exchange to trade the credits. One such exchange is Flett Exchange, and you register online.
